Becoming an EMT
An EMT provides immediate and efficient pre-hospital emergency care, under the direction of a physician, to acutely ill or injured patients.
As an EMT, you may be called upon to:
- Manage an accident scene. Gather patient information. Provide emergency medical care. Monitor and treat patients while in transport. Provide emotional support to patients and families. Communicate with appropriate medical personnel regarding patient conditions, history, treatment, response to treatment and other relevant information.
- Drive company vehicles under emergency and non-emergency conditions.
